Join #RFTLTeamNewcastle as Newcastle Hospitals and Newcastle Hospitals Charity staff take on Ride for Their Lives this October, and help raise awareness of the climate emergency.
What is Ride for Their Lives?
Climate change impacts us all, but is especially damaging for the next generation. Ride for Their Lives is a cycle challenge from Great Ormond Street Hospital, London – The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, designed to raise awareness of the climate crisis. #RFTLTeamNewcastle will be joining other UK health professionals on the ride to help raise awareness of the devastating impact of climate change on child health.
There are two main ways to get involved:
- Support #RFTLTeamNewcastle (Teri, James, and Mike, below) by donating or raising awareness.
- Take part in a virtual cycle challenge of your own. The Ride for Their Lives campaign hopes to reach 1,000,000 miles cycled in October to raise awareness of the climate crisis.
- Newcastle Hospitals staff can also get involved by taking part in the main cycle, completing the virtual 160KM challenge, or by taking part in a static cycle event on hospital grounds to help welcome the riders into Newcastle.
The ride is organised by Climate Acceptance Studios, who will be delivering demands for action from the global health community at COP26 in Glasgow.
The core group cyclists will arrive in Glasgow as COP26 starts, where they will announce the numbers of miles completed by Ride for their Lives participants around the world, speak out on air pollution, and hand over a suite of documents from the global health community calling for urgent action on the climate crisis.
