Above: Some examples of knitted and crocheted hearts
Knitters and Crochet-ers wanted!
At Newcastle Hospitals Charity, we’re proud to support the wonderful work of the Palliative Care team at Newcastle Hospitals. You can also show your support by knitting or crocheting hearts to be donated to the team.
Originally used to provide comfort to families experiencing the death of a loved one during COVID restrictions, these hearts have been really well-received by families and the team are now running low on these precious keepsakes.
You can see some suggested patterns below, or feel free to use your own. The hearts should be small enough to hold in the palm of your hand and ideally stuffed with cotton.
Where to post them to:
Please post your hearts to:
Newcastle Hospitals Charity,
Royal Victoria Infirmary
Queen Victoria Road
Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4LP
Be COVID Safe
Please keep in mind the following when donating your hearts:
- Please wash materials before use where possible, and before donating.
- If washing is not possible, please put the date the hearts were packed into the envelope on a slip of paper or with the address, the team can then let them sit for an appropriate amount of time before being introduced to the Ward.
Thank you for supporting Palliative Care and Newcastle Hospitals Charity.
