This competition has now closed. Thank you so much to everyone who entered!
Simple to enter, this fun competition will test your football knowledge and support the work of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation – described by Sir Bobby as his “last and greatest team.” Why not give it a go!
Part of Newcastle Hospitals Charity, the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation works within the NHS to find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer.
This September, a group of experienced football journalists are supporting our work and running the Great North Run as Sir Bobby’s Team. And, as we know what Sir Bobby considered his best team away from the pitch, they’ve put their heads together to come up with his best team on it…
Using a 3 4 3 formation and the shortlist of players below, our football experts have made a collective decision and come up with Sir Bobby’s ultimate starting line-up based on the very best players he ever managed.
Why not test your football knowledge and select your own Sir Bobby Team – goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and three up front – and help support the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation in the process?
Just £5 to enter, all proceeds will support our work.Enter and create your team
⚽️ Thanks to the Great North Run, first prize is an incredible 2023 VIP Great North Run experience for two including breakfast at the Hilton, meet and greet with notable runners at the start and winners at the finish, hospitality and transport, and a VIP helicopter ride from the start to the finish (full details in T&Cs).
⚽️ Our 20 runners up will also receive a very special prize thanks to the Great North Run – a superb technical t-shirt (below), production limited to just 20, the same design as worn by Sir Bobby’s Team on the run.
⚽️ All entrants who accurately guess the 11 players chosen by our football experts will be entered into a prize draw and one winner will be chosen at random. If nobody selects all 11 players correctly, the entrants who accurately guessed 10 players will be entered into a prize draw, this process will continue until a winner is chosen.
