Newcastle Hospitals Charity Presents event discusses impact of robotics and AI on healthcare

Newcastle Hospitals Charity (NHC) were joined by a packed audience for the first of the Charity’s ‘in conversation’ public events at the Freeman on 9 July 2024.
‘Robotics in Healthcare: An Extension of Excellence’ was the first in a series of ‘in conversation’ events designed to highlight and celebrate the work the charity does to support Newcastle Hospitals. Mr Andrew James Bowey, Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon, and Professor Richard Brady, Consultant Surgeon – who both work at Newcastle Hospitals – spoke of their clinical experience in working with robotics and AI. Other speakers included Charlotte Fox, Business Innovation Manager at Newcastle Hospitals, and Matt Atkinson, Chief Innovation Officer at Waywark and all four speakers contributed to an insightful Q&A session with the audience. Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, Newcastle Hospitals Charity has been able to purchase two state of the art robotics systems for the Hospitals in recent months, both significantly benefiting patients and adding to Newcastle Hospitals’ pioneering robotics programme.The next NHC “Presents” event will take place in the Autumn and will focus on arts within healthcare.
