New outdoor seating areas have opened for Newcastle Hospitals colleagues thanks to a collaboration with the Trust and Newcastle Hospitals Charity.
The additional seating areas can be found outside the Bistro at Peacock Hall and in the outpatients’ courtyard on level one at the RVI. Entrance and exit routes are clearly signposted and tables/seating adhere to social distancing measures.
The Trust is committed to the Health and Wellbeing of our staff and feedback from our colleagues has highlighted the need for more seating areas for staff. The importance of staff wellbeing has been heightened during the COVID-19 pandemic and the seating areas give staff the opportunity to take their break outside in the fresh air in a relaxed safe environment whilst maintaining social distancing.
The Trust, in collaboration with our Newcastle Hospitals Charity, received funding from NHS Charities Together for the additional tables and chairs in recognition of the importance of the benefits of being outside and having some space and time to reflect during the pressures of the day.
The initiative is part of a range of projects for which Newcastle Hospitals Charity has secured funding from NHS Charities Together for staff health and wellbeing, following public support for the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.
