Job responsibilities
- The post holder will be dynamic and flexible, working with teams across the Trust and to develop effective working relationships and a positive partnership-based approach with a wide range of individuals, including Directors, Clinical Directors, Directors of Operations, senior managerial and professional staff within and external to the Trust.
- The post holder will possess a keen attention to detail; excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills; highly professional report writing and presentation skills and will be able to communicate appropriately with a wide variety of individuals and audiences both internally and externally.
- The post holder will analyse and interpret large-scale, highly complex and often sensitive information and communicate this clearly and concisely.
- The post holder is required to motivate, negotiate, persuade and influence others to improve performance and /or increased income.
- The post holder will work with supporter information and must ensure that all information is maintained with the highest level of professionalism.
- The post-holder with be action-oriented and innovative, and an analytic decision maker.
- The post holder will have specialist knowledge in relation to data management best practice and legislative guidance.
- Analysis and visualisation of complex datasets, which require collation, interpretation and benchmarking.
- Lead on data-driven evaluation of performance and programmes, analysing, interpreting and challenging data and metrics where appropriate.
- Investigate , interpret and explain results and performance, including those that are at variance with known performance indicators within the sector.
- Exercise judgement and make recommendations to the Charity management team on priorities and performance.
- To be flexible and and have the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to manage programme budgeting and fundraising income management reporting.
- Required to make a significant contribution to the formulation of and reporting on the Charity’s strategic plan.
Job Purpose
- Oversight of data and insights that drive the performance of Newcastle Hospitals Charity’s fundraising, income generation, impact reporting and supporter / volunteer engagement efforts.
- Provide operational management for the data and systems services and processes within Newcastle Hospitals Charity to support the development and operational priorities of the Charity.
- Develop and deliver data, planning and systems objectives, managing specific change projects as required, ensuring the Charity is supporter and donor focused and meets the regulatory requirements and standards set out by the Charity Commission.
- Lead on management information reporting, including understanding and gathering business requirements and developing the tools and systems for delivering effective performance reporting.
- Provide hands on data intelligence expertise, including in-depth data analysis to inform strategic decision making; providing up-to-date market and benchmarking analysis working with multiple stakeholders as needed.
- Lead the Charity’s approach to data quality, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards, such as the Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Fundraising Code of Practice.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.

Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Degree level education or equivalent level qualification or experience in a relevant subject area.
- Postgraduate qualification, or demonstrable equivalent level of experience of working successfully at a senior level.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Knowledge and experience of data management and analysis regulations and legislation relating to data processing.
- Experience of multi-professional and organization-wide working.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a charity and / or healthcare setting.
- Experience of preparing complex data / information for reports to Management / Executive / Board / Committee level.
Skills & Abilities
Essential
- Proven ability to manage and develop complex datasets and systems.
- Practical data modelling skills including statistical, analytical, visualisation and numerical skills.
- Proven ability to research, analyse, set, assess and monitor key performance indicators to inform strategic planning and financial management.
- Strong project management skills including familiarity with Prince 2/Agile/ITIL or similar project management standards.
- Able to engage and work with a range of stakeholders, at all levels.
- Proven ability of working both independently and in large teams within a charity, business development or healthcare environment.
- High level of computer literacy and advanced keyboard skills.
