Newcastle Hospitals Charity recognises the excellent contribution that external organisations can make to our aims, especially the voluntary and community sector and particularly with respect to challenging health inequalities.
On this basis where an employee in the Trust identifies that the involvement of an external organisation can further the work of the Trust, the charity may invite the organisation to submit a proposal for consideration.
As part of the assessment process, a due diligence exercise will be undertaken. This will involve a review of their financial position and assessment of whether their governance and safeguarding arrangements adhere to Charity Commission guidelines.
Funding provided to external organisations should be in the furtherance of the charitable objects of both Newcastle Hospitals Charity and the recipient organisation. No subsequent funding will be made to external organisations until they have satisfactorily fulfilled the monitoring and reporting obligations relating to previous funding from the charity.
Where an external organisation is requesting funds for the delivery of a specific service to Newcastle Hospitals patients, operational arrangements must be agreed in writing between the applicant and the trust before final approval of funding can be made.
The Charity is committed to providing funding to external organisations on a sustainable basis, with grants covering direct project costs as well proportionate and justified share of an organisation’s overhead costs.
It is considered unlikely that an external organisation would receive funding for more than two ‘live’ projects at any one time.
If you would like to nominate an organisation that is external to Newcastle Hospitals to receive funding to further the work of the Trust please make contact with the funding and partnerships team.
