Challenge yourself in 2026 and join us for an unforgettable adventure through 2,000 years of history.
On Sunday 17 May 2026, we invite you to take on Challenge Northumberland, a 20km hike along one of the most iconic and breath-taking landmarks in the world: Hadrian’s Wall.
Whether you’re an experienced hiker or taking on your first big challenge, this is your chance to push yourself, explore incredible landscapes, and help make a real difference for patients, families and staff across our hospitals.
A journey through time
Built nearly two millennia ago and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hadrian’s Wall is the most visited historical landmark in northern England. Remarkable stretches of the wall, Roman forts, milecastles, barracks and ancient settlements still stand proudly today, offering an unforgettable backdrop to this exhilarating challenge.
This isn’t a gentle stroll. It’s a test of endurance, determination and spirit.
You’ll take on:
- 20km of rugged terrain
- Steep inclines and challenging gradients
- The Wall’s highest point at 1,000ft
- An 8-hour target to complete the route
But every step is worth it for the views, the history, and the incredible cause you’ll be supporting.
