Above: Wendy takes the plunge to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation
After sadly losing a friend to a brain tumour, as well as several family members to cancer, Wendy Thomas wanted to give back and decided to fundraise by completing a tandem skydive for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, a charitable fund within Newcastle Hospitals Charity, which supports cancer care in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the surrounding areas.
Her skydive was in honour of her friend David, her Aunty Sylvia, and her Nana Dorothy – known to the family affectionately as ‘Nana Dodo!’.
Wendy – who works for the NHS herself in Cumbria – completed her tandem skydive in July, and has raised a wonderful £210.00 for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. The total funds raised of £630.00 were also split with two charities close to Wendy’s heart in Cumbria.
Wendy said: “I absolutely loved the experience. It was a beautiful sunny day and I smiled all the way down…I’m pleased I could support a neighbouring NHS who encompass a great charity.”
