Members of the North East Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CISBE) have donated £1,200 to support staff recovery and resilience activities for colleagues at Newcastle Hospitals.
Phillip Hilton–West, principal engineer at Black & White Engineering and Chair of CIBSE North East said: “The idea came as due to the ongoing Pandemic and that the CISBE North East annual dinner couldn’t go ahead as planned in February 2021. The dinner raises money for Charity every year, and our staff agreed unanimously to support NHS staff with a donation from our charity fund.”
The donation to Newcastle Hospitals Charity will be put towards initiatives that support the recovery and resilience of 15,000 staff who have worked to care for patients and keep the hospitals running throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Sonia Graham, fundraising manager, said: “We are so grateful to Phillip and the members of the CISBE for thinking of our staff and making this generous donation. Local companies and businesses play a vital role in supporting our Charity to help make an impact for our staff, patient and communities every day.”
The first Covid-19 patients in the UK came to the Royal Victoria Infirmary back in January 2020 and staff have worked tirelessly to transform the way they deliver care for patients in these most challenging of times.
