Good luck to everyone taking part in Great Run events this weekend. Starting tonight (Friday 5 September) with the Great North 5k – the curtain raiser for the North East’s biggest weekend of sport – a team of Newcastle Hospitals staff will join thousands of others running the route around Newcastle and Gateshead’s Quayside.
Following the mini and junior races on Saturday (6 September) 60,000 people will take part in the world’s most famous half marathon on Sunday (7 September). The iconic Great North Run sees runners of all abilities taking part for fun, to fundraise or for a personal fitness goal. Each year the event raises money for charities across the country – including Newcastle Hospitals Charity.
This year we have more than 450 runners taking part to fundraise for Newcastle Hospitals Charity, The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and The Great North Children’s Hospital. Every step and every mile helps raise funds to support patients, staff and the wider communities of Newcastle Hospitals.
Our team will be on hand to welcome you over the finish line – we’ll be at locations 64 and 65 and can’t wait to see you all!
A huge thank you to everyone taking part this weekend – good luck and enjoy every minute.
