With a background in making a difference to so many people’s lives Jill Baker brings a real talent and warmth to her new role.
Thirty years of experience working in the charity, health and local authority sectors specialising in children’s social care, criminal justice and community development have given her a wealth of experience in giving back to the community.
Jill is working closely with our Charity Director Teri Bayliss in taking the Charity to its next stage of development with a bold Charity Strategy to support our patients, staff and communities to thrive.
“This is an exciting time to be joining the Charity as we develop and implement a new strategy focussed upon improving the health of the communities we serve as well as supporting staff in their work,” she said.
“Through the current pandemic we have seen how the generosity of people can make a big difference to our staff, patients, their families and their communities and we want to build upon that and provide the people of the region with opportunities to work with us.”
In her current role as Director of Development at Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales (LBFEW), Jill’s role is to help charities thrive beyond the life of their grant and equip them to be stronger and more sustainable.
Chair of our Charity Committee since September 2020, she has been a Non-Executive Director on the Committee since July 2019 and also sits on the Trust board and People Committee.
“Our aspiration is to be a ground breaking charity that becomes a leader in both fundraising and grant making – within the Trust and out in the local communities. I can’t wait for us to start making an even bigger difference!’
Jill, who lives in Tynemouth, counts ballet and Thin Lizzy among her passions along with her grown up twins and three grandchildren.
