Main duties of the job
As a key member of the Newcastle Hospitals Team, the post-holder will develop, implement and evaluate an agreed marketing and communications strategy to raise the profile and income streams of Newcastle Hospitals Charity and promote a positive image and identity of the Charities public relations.
Essential requirements include degree level education, relevant professional qualification and post graduate study to master’s degree level or equivalent.
Knowledge and experience of working for a large complex organisation is desirable.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will have highly developed specialist knowledge in relation to communications and strategy development. This will be demonstrated by a degree level qualification supplemented by a professional qualification/ and/or relevant experience.
Oversee and co-ordinate the work of the communication team and will liaise with key colleagues to ensure that a focussed and co-ordinated strategy is in place.
Build relationships with external companies including marketing and design agencies, printers and local and regional media.
The post holder will interact with external stake-holders e.g. public / commercial organisations / professional bodies to promote and develop support for the Charity.
The post holder will possess senior level experience of dealing with press and the media.
The post holder will have the ability to translate complex information into a clear and easily understood format.
The post holder will be able to work to tight deadlines and deliver projects assigned to them to agreed quality standards and timescales.
The post holder must have highly developed written, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills to work with large groups or individuals both internally and externally.
Deliver a marketing/communications service for the Charities including providing support on the design of strategies, project and communication plans, publicity campaigns, branding, design, editorial, events management, digital media, printing and evaluation, for example: manage the production of an annual newsletter and preparation of articles for the Trusts Annual Review.
Create awareness levels of service provision, appropriate to high profile charities.
Provide innovative ideas/promotional materials to publicise the Charitys support of the Trusts services.
The Post holder will undertake benchmarking and evaluation and monitoring the outcome of media work to inform future planning
In addition to line management of the charity communications and analytics team and their core responsibilities the post holder will work closely with key Trust contacts, including the Trust Board and the Charity Committee to ensure that a co-ordinated strategy is implemented.
- To develop and implement an agreed marketing and communications strategy to raise the profile and income streams of Newcastle Hospitals Charity (Reg. 1057213)
- To promote a positive image and identity of the Charities public relations (internally/externally)
- To ensure the Charitys strategic plans are incorporated into all promotional and publicity materials and activity.
- Develop, implement and evaluate a strategic communications plan
- Review and improve current practices and develop an overall strategy to promote and maximise the Charity and its income
- Liaising with NHS staff, general public, commercial organisations and interested parties with a view to actively increasing the profile of charitable giving, developing partnerships/ working relationships and generating support
