What is Springbank Pavilion?
Springbank Pavilion – centrally located in Newcastle’s Leazes Park – is an arts hub that hosts creative workshops onsite, alongside delivery of a programme of in-hospital creative activities at Newcastle Hospitals. It was launched in September 2022.
This exciting project in partnership with Urban Green Newcastle, which has just been recommissioned for 2024, is designed to bring nature and the joy of creating to those who may have barriers to accessing arts activities. Whilst particularly aimed at those connected with Newcastle Hospitals, the public are encouraged to take part in the programme and book a space on the workshops.
Come and join local arts organisations Chilli Arts Studios, Curious Arts and Gem Arts at Springbank Pavilion to take part in some exciting art workshops that give participants the chance to spend time in nature and get creative. Hand-build pots or sculptures out of clay with Chilli Arts Studios, or explore themes of nature, space, community, and wellbeing with Gem Arts and a local visual artist and printmaker. We also have a series of taster sessions available.
Since it launched in 2022, our pioneering arts and health project with Urban Green Newcastle has helped hundreds of people connect with nature through a series of creative art workshops, as well as artist-led creative activities that can be done anywhere.
The free art sessions are for all abilities, all materials are provided and everyone is welcome to attend. We have staff who have been taking part and have spoken of the benefit of attending on their wellbeing. Join us for a cuppa, in a relaxed informal environment surrounded by nature!
